My name is Jackie Hassenpflug and I am delighted to have you here! I live in the midcoast Maine region and I can almost always be found exploring the woods with my dogs.

As the leaves begin to fall, I find this is the perfect time to reflect on all that was and all the is still to come. We’ve each had our obstacles and although we can’t see them, we have more to overcome. It is so easy to allow hardships to stop us from creating. However, I think that it is even more important to continue to create during those times of uncertainty, doubt, and periods were we experience a lack of inspiration and motivation. Sometimes, if I find myself lacking motivation, I simply look to the world outside my window. Something as simple as a leaf holds so many intricate and individual designs within.

My biggest source of inspiration has and always will be the outdoors. If I’m in the middle of a creativity-blockage, I like to close my laptop and take my dog for a stroll. The cool breezes rushing through my hair seem to brush away some of the heaviness blocking my creativity. We all have had moments, whether in school, at work, or even at home, where we feel unmotivated. We also all have witnessed how when we are in that space of lacking motivation, we might make things worse by trying to simply ‘push through’. To that I say, Stop and take some time to unwind your brain. Whether that’s going for a walk, having a nice peppermint latte at the café, meditating, or whatever it is that you use to ground yourself – DO IT. Taking a step back helps us to look at the full picture. There have been so many times I have been stuck on something and when I took the time to step away and put in effort to not think about the blockage, I come up with some of my best ideas!
